San Antonio Aquarium Opens Major Expansion
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) November 19, 2015 -- San Antonio Aquarium expansion includes new interactive animal exhibits and children centered rides. Alui Cleaver, Aquarium COO explained, “We are always improving what we offer in our exhibits for the public. People can come back often because there is always something new to experience. Inside we have added Blacktip Sharks and Cownose Rays to our marine exhibits that people won’t want to miss. But the majority of this expansion is outside where we now have a 7,000 sq. ft. exotic bird aviary with ducks, geese, peacocks, lovebirds, parakeets, cockatiels, Quaker parrots, conure & violet turaco. The area also features a new Koi Pond, a Caimain alligator exhibit complete with our trademark feeding opportunities, Shetland Pony rides and a child-sized roller coaster and merry-go-round.”
Ducks and Geese added to the exhibits are not your ordinary barnyard species! Included are blue Swedish, black Swedish, khaki campbell, and Cayuga ducks, red head pochard, ring teals, eytons tree duck, ruddy shelduck, cape shelduck, and paradise shelducks and bar headed geese.
City officials from Leon Valley who helped facilitate the arrival of the San Antonio Aquarium had requested more trees and landscaping and got their wish with this expansion, which includes an elaborate $500,000 landscape addition. City officials had glowing feedback. Mayor Chris Riley of Leon Valley commented, "Really enjoyed the visit and will give an update to council and citizens - very impressed with your additions to the Aquarium in less than a year! 750,000 expected visitors in your first year is another exceptional number.” Kelly Kuenstler, Leon Valley City Manager’s response to the new addition was, “IMPRESSED is the only word that comes to mind. The improvements, number of visitors and the civic minded nature of the Aquarium are huge assets to the community of Leon Valley.”
