K’NEX Brands, the only U.S. construction toy company focused on Building Worlds Kids Love®, has chosen the winners of its 2015 Annual K’NEXpert Search. The K’NEXpert Search is an annual, nationwide building contest that asks kids ages 5-14 to design an ultra-creative, original model made entirely out of K’NEX pieces.
Four Grand Prize winners and eight finalists were chosen from four age categories. As Grand Prize Winners, Auri from California (5-6 year-old age group); Xander from Texas (7-8 year-old age group); Nathan from Florida (9-11 year-old age group); and Michael from New York (12-14 year-old age group), will each be awarded a $1,000 K’NEX credit code good toward a shopping spree at knex.com, K’NEX T-shirt, special surprise for his/her 2016 birthday (approximate retail $50.00 value), personal photo gallery on knex.com, 25% discount on all K’NEX sets and parts valid throughout 2016, and an invitation to tour the K’NEX corporate headquarters to meet the designers and learn how K’NEX is made. The eight finalists, who will each be awarded $250 K'NEX credit code good toward a shopping spree at knex.com, and a K’NEX t-shirt, along with other prizes, are: Sebastian from South Carolina, and Aden from Ontario (5-6 year-old age group); Connor from British Columbia, and Jacob from Illinois (7-8 year-old age group); Paul from New York, and Genesa from California (9-11 year-old age group); and Max from Illinois, and Franklin from Texas (12-14 year-old age group).
“The K’NEXpert contest is the highlight of our year,” said K’NEX President Michael Araten. “K’NEX fans consistently surpass our expectations with their creativity and innovation, building elaborate works of art that wow even our toy designers. We’re proud to have the current winners represent K’NEX in 2016,” said Araten.
The Grand Prize-winning builds are truly impressive.
Six-year-old Auri, built “Hay Ride,” which included a tractor and 3 cars carrying hay!
Xander, age 7, built “No Escape Prison,” that features a solar powered motorized prison cell.
Eleven-year-old, Nathan, created the “Griffinator” a motorized ball machine.
Fourteen-year-old Michael built an original double track K’NEX rollercoaster.
A panel of judges comprised of K’NEX employees selected the Semi-Finalists from each age category. This was followed by a public, online vote which determined the 12 winners.
The 2015 Annual K’NEXpert Search was open to residents of the U.S. and Canada, except those of Puerto Rico, U.S. territories or possessions, the Province of Quebec, and where prohibited, who were 5 through 14 years of age as of June 8, 2015, and no purchase was necessary.
