Greenberg Traurig Tel Aviv Shareholder Joey Shabot Named to The Marker 2015 40 Under 40 Promising Professionals List
Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) November 18, 2015 -- Joey Shabot, a Shareholder in the Tel Aviv office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, was named one of Israel’s 40 most prominent professionals under 40. The list was published by The Marker, one of Israel’s leading business journals that annually selects executives, academics, public servants, technology entrepreneurs, and attorneys whom it expects will become key figures on the Israeli scene in the near future.
Shabot, 37, was selected, according to the publication based on his outstanding achievements in the legal field. “He stands at one of the most important crossroads in the business world, representing Israeli, and international companies alike in major corporate transactions,” noted the publication. Shabot regularly collaborates with his colleagues in Greenberg Traurig’s offices around the globe to serve clients who are active in Israel. In the last year alone, Shabot, together with other Greenberg Traurig attorneys, represented the Canadian gaming giant Amaya in various transactions it conducted inside and outside Israel, including in the acquisition of the Rational Group for more than $5 billion, and represented Amadeus IT Group in various transactions in Israel, Europe, and the United States. He also advised InterContinentalExchange Group, owner of the New York Stock Exchange, on its acquisition of Super Derivatives for $350 million. He has also counselled the Delek Group of Yitzhak Tshuva on the sale of its U.S. insurance business, Republic Group, to AmTrust Insurance for approximately $220 million. Additionally, Shabot has represented Chinese investors in Israeli companies. A key client is China’s Sichuan Hebang Biotechnology Co., which purchased the majority interest in Israel’s Stockton Group at a value of $180 million. Shabot also represents several of Israel’s largest insurance companies and pension funds in connection with real estate transactions in the United States.
Shabot was born in Syria. At an early age, he moved to the United States with his parents. He settled in Israel in 2011. He holds a J.D. degree (cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an A.B. degree in Comparative Literature (magna cum laude) from Harvard College. Shabot speaks fluent English, Arabic, and Hebrew. He has edited two Middle East travel guides published by Let’s Go Travel. Shabot also dedicates himself to pro bono work, representing United Hatzalah, an international first response organization which brings together volunteer paramedics by providing technology and ambucycles in several countries around the world, as well as assisting the global WIZO organization with certain projects in Israel.
