No Scalpel No Suture - Gum Graft is available now at Queen's Park Dental: A Breakthrough Treatment for Gum Recession by Dr Darcy Murphy

The Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST®) is a relatively new procedure that doesn't involve the use of a scalpel or suturing with the same or better results of a traditional gum graft. For this procedure, we don't touch the roof of the mouth to improve your gum recession.

For years people in the lower Vancouver mainland have been reluctant to seek treatment for their gum recession due to fear of pain, swelling, or lost time from work. Dr Darcy Murphy has personally spoken with many friends, family members, and neighbors regarding their gum recession and most were too afraid of the pain to move forward. Their concern inspired Dr Murphy to search for a minimally invasive alternative versus the traditional gum graft.

Gum recession is a serious issue that negatively affects people in a variety of ways. Many people experience increased sensitivity, loss of gum attachment, mobile teeth, and an unsightly cosmetic appearance (long teeth, black triangles) as a result of receding gums. Research shows that over 50% of Canadians suffer from some form of gum recession in an increasingly prevalent problem in Canada today.

Queen's Park Dental is pleased to announce that Dr Murphy has recently completed intensive training in the Chao Pinhole Surgical Technique (PST®). Dr Murphy is now certified to perform this proven minimally invasive treatment for gum recession. PST® is an innovative new dental surgery technique that requires no cutting or sutures unlike the traditional gum graft.

Through a small pinhole made by a needle, Dr Murphy utilizes specially designed instruments to gently loosen the gum tissue and glide it over the exposed tooth. Because there is no cutting or stitching, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling, and bleeding). Everyone at Queen's Park Dental believes that you will be pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement! Some of our patient's were pleasantly surprised :
