Duo-Gard Industries Inc. has been honored with two Product Innovation Awards from Architectural Products Magazine. Awards for the company’s Sleekline Monolithic Translucent Canopy and its Polycarbonate Curtain Wall System were presented at Greenbuild 2015.

The Product Innovation Awards determine and honor innovation in the development and refinement of buildings-related products that range from cladding systems to interior finishes. The program is judged by a group of 35 independent architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran A/E/C writers.

Duo-Gard’s Sleekline canopy system integrates architectural advantages and aesthetics with exceptional affordability. The low-profile, high-performance system features monolithic polycarbonate glazing panels in lengths up to 30’. Free-flow panel ends eliminate concerns about water pooling. Panels are available in a wide range of thicknesses, colors, textures and light transmittance. Aluminum structural systems are custom-engineered for loading and climatic requirements. This new canopy system is a prominent element of the extensive renovation at Eastern Iowa Airport outside Cedar Rapids, designed by Mead & Hunt.

Duo-Gard’s Translucent Curtain Wall System features multiwall polycarbonate glazing in low-profile, custom-engineered framing. The system forms the exterior for Chesapeake Energy’s Car Park 3 in Oklahoma City, a massive, seven-story structure of 546,000 square feet with a 130,000-square-foot façade of translucent polycarbonate – the largest such expanse in North America. It was designed by Elliott + Associates, whose team wanted to reinvent the usual parking garage. Duo-Gard’s system floods the structure with natural light by day and encircles it with luminous, multi-hued bands by night.
