Advanta IRA Offers Two-Hour CPE Class for Certified Public Accountants: Real Estate in an IRA
Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- Investors are becoming more strategic in planning successful financial futures by using self-directed IRAs to acquire alternative investments, like real estate, to build wealth for retirement. These individuals seek advice from certified public accountants for tax preparation and guidance on earning tax-free and tax-deferred investment income.
“Healthy retirement portfolios depend not simply on the investor, but also his or her financial advisors,” says Jack Callahan, managing partner of Advanta IRA Services in Florida.
Self-directed retirement plans give the account owners total control in acquiring alternative assets of their own choosing—things investors know and understand themselves—instead of relying on a third party to make investments for them. “Self-direction puts investors in the driver’s seat of securing their own successful financial futures,” says Callahan.
Advanta IRA is a self-directed retirement account administrator, but does not give investment advice. However, CPAs can and do provide advice for their clients. One focus of Advanta IRA is to educate professionals in a variety of fields. Scott Maurer, director of business development for the firm delivers critical knowledge to CPAs during this course. Attendees receive 2 hours of CPE credits and learn about the following topics:
This seminar educates the tax professional on the following:
• Types of retirement plans that can be self-directed
• Alternative investments permitted within a self-directed plan
• Prohibited transactions and self-dealing within an IRA
• Financing an IRA investment with a mortgage loan
• Unrelated business income tax (UBIT) issues
During the class, IRS Section 4975 (dealing with prohibited transactions and disqualified persons) is covered extensively using case law and tax court decisions.
Attendees should register in advance, as seating is limited.
