AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care Celebrates Veterans Day With Complimentary Flu Vaccines
Denver, CO (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- On November 4 and November 12 in honor of Veterans Day, AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care distributed complimentary flu shots as a means of giving back to the community.
The urgent care center understands that while flu shots are essential to staying healthy throughout the winter months, not everyone has the insurance and the funds to get vaccinated. The complimentary flu shots gave individuals in this situation ample opportunity to protect their health.
AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care offered the vaccines between the hours of 2 and 4 pm on each day.
Both days were a big success. AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care had additional staff on hand for the events, anticipating a large turnout. Ultimately, the event brought in around 40 people getting flu shots per day.
“We’re happy to have been able to offer complimentary flu shots for people in our community and we’re so glad that so many people took advantage of the opportunity to get vaccinated," said Shideh Kerman, COO and Owner of AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care.
The participants were very grateful that AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care was offering the free flu shots. Additionally, the event provided a means of education about the importance of vaccinations as part of care.
The news coverage regarding the flu season has made people more cautious about the flu, generating more interest in flu vaccinations. AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care's own Dr. Johnny Shen recently released flu protection tips for the flu influenza season, and was featured on a local newscast for the same reason.
The newscast in itself may have generated interest, and likely contributed to the large number of individuals looking to get vaccinated.
Offering vaccinations also helps the employees of AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care by putting their knowledge and skills to good use by servicing the community. The community health clinic's staff was excited to be part of something good for the community at large.
Getting vaccinated is important before the flu season hits in the winter, as it reduces the likelihood of getting sick or transmitting the flu to others. AFC/Doctors Express Cherry Creek Urgent Care recommends that everyone of appropriate age gets vaccinated, reducing the risk of future hospitalization because of the flu virus.
