Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) November 24, 2015 -- International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) closed out its biggest event of the year and one of the premier annual events for pharmaceutical manufacturing: 2015 Annual Meeting. The conference took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, and ran from 8–11 November 2015, where ISPE hosted the largest number of attendees in more than a decade.
“The 2015 Annual Meeting set a new bar for pharmaceutical manufacturing conferences,” said ISPE President and CEO John Bournas. “Everything from session rooms to the exhibit hall to the social events were alive with people networking, learning, and having fun.”
Annual Meeting opened with engaging keynote sessions from Kathryn Wengel, Worldwide Vice President for Johnson & Johnson Supply Chain, and John Cox, Executive Vice President of Pharmaceutical Operations and Technology for Biogen. The conference included a total of 73 education sessions within 6 tracks. Noteworthy session topics included:
• Biopharmaceuticals
• China/Asia-Pacific Facilities
• Data Integrity
• Metrics
• Risk-Based Approaches
• Single-Use Technologies
On day 2 of the conference, ISPE unveiled the highly-anticipated Drug Shortage Assessment and Prevention Tool, available exclusively to Annual Meeting attendees and ISPE members. The conference also provided a number of special networking sessions and events, including the Annual 5K Charity Run/Walk, which raised monies for the Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP). Additional events included the Membership and Awards Breakfast, where ISPE announced the 2015 overall Facility of the Year Award Winner and International Honor Award Winners, Tuesday Night Party at Reading Terminal Market, and exclusive tours of the Merck, Morphotek, and AstraZeneca facilities.
Another notable event was the Annual Meeting’s first-ever Global Regulatory Town Hall. The Town Hall session featured an impressive number of US and international regulators speaking and fielding audience questions. Attendees also enjoyed an Exhibit Hall with 204 exhibitors.
“ISPE hosts our Annual Meeting with one goal in mind: to provide pharmaceutical manufacturing industry professionals with world-class education in order to take our evolving industry to the next level,” said John Bournas. “Thanks to the planning committee, ISPE Board, Members, speakers, exhibitors, and attendees, we accomplished our goal – and we achieved new paradigms for manufacturing excellence.”
