Rockville, MD (PRWEB) November 25, 2015 -- This past Veteran’s Day, alongside the praise and reverence traditionally shown for the nation’s heroes, Shady Grove Fertility—along with the two primary governing reproductive medicine bodies, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART)—announced its commitment to provide discounted treatment for wounded veterans who have not been eligible for fertility benefits since the early 1990s. Shady Grove Fertility joins over 100 fertility centers all over the country who have made this commitment.
In an interview with Military Times, SART President Bradley Van Voorhis, M.D. said, “While we wait for Congress to act, our member clinics have chosen to try to improve the situation.” With this sentiment, ASRM and SART created the “Service to Veterans” program that partners with fertility centers to adjust their rates for approximately 3,000 veterans whose wounds affect their spinal cords or reproductive systems.
In full support of the country’s veterans, Shady Grove Fertility—whose headquarters is located just outside Washington, D.C., with several offices in areas with strong military populations—has enacted the ASRM and SART initiative immediately.
“These 3,000 wounded service members have the best chance to build their families now, while they are still relatively young,” says Shady Grove Fertility reproductive endocrinologist Gilbert L. Mottla, M.D. “These men and women are our best and brightest. It is our honor to help them on their journey to parenthood,” Mottla adds.
Shady Grove Fertility has always made affordable care for veterans a priority. SGF has always offered a Military Discount Program that gives all active duty and reservists men and women a 25 percent discount on a range of services including semen analysis, ultrasounds, and injection classes. Patients can also use the Military Discount Program for an array of treatments, from low-tech basic options like intrauterine insemination (IUI) to more advanced procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Building on this foundation of support for veterans and their families, Shady Grove Fertility says they are fully committed to supporting a 50 percent discount for wounded veterans through the Service to Veterans Program.
