New segment will help educate on this and other important environmental topics.

In an upcoming segment from “Voices In America” hosted by James Earl Jones, the program will delve into the devastating effects of deforestation in the United States. A team of environmental experts will be on hand to discuss what type of threats are imminent if companies continue to destroy the nation’s beloved forests.

According to the World Wildlife Fund, forests cover more than 31 percent of the land region of our planet. Forests offer protection to threatened and endangered animals as well as provide clean water, food, and shelter to many communities. Deforestation comes in the form of fire, real estate development, and the logging industry. Deforestation not only endangers animals and people’s livelihoods, but also adversely affects the climate as greenhouse gas emissions are released into the environment.

In the Southeast, deforestation has become a rising concern. The burning of trees creates more carbon pollution than the burning of coal and destroys entire ecosystems. There has been a call by environmental protection agencies to stop this process in order to reduce the dangerously rising levels of carbon emissions.

“Voices In America” is a short-form documentary production broadcast distributed to Public Television stations. Along with an award-winning creative team, veteran TV and film star James Earl Jones hosts the program. Each episode is shot in stunning high definition and has to meet production quality assurance standards before being aired. The program isn't affiliated with APT or PBS.
