Woot.com spoofs REI, announces decision to #OptInside this holiday weekend
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 25, 2015 -- In response to the many businesses that are choosing to close on Thursday and Friday, Woot.com, the nation’s objectively funniest daily deals website, has announced plans to remain open on Thanksgiving Day (November 26th) and Black Friday (November 27th). Instead of urging people to spend time outdoors where it will be cold, windy, and wet, Woot is encouraging users to do the things that will make them the happiest-- staying inside, getting cozy, and staring at a computer screen. Woot is inviting the nation to join them by choosing to #OptInside on Friday and spend the whole day being warm and comfortable indoors. More details are available at http://optinside.woot.com.
John Alteio, General Manager of Woot.com, said “Friday is the perfect time to remind ourselves that life is much easier when you spend a lot of time online and ignore the so-called “real” world. We’re inviting America to #OptInside with us so that everyone can enjoy the comforts of shopping online and having cheap stuff delivered right to your door.”
In a letter to users, Alteio quoted American politician Bob Dole who said in 1996, “the internet is a great way to get on the net.”
To help aspiring relaxers choose how to #OptInside, Woot has compiled a list of encouraged indoor activities, including, but not limited to: napping, lounging, snacking, dozing, eating, sleeping, unwinding, sitting, stretching out, resting, taking a load off, taking a break, taking it easy, grazing, chilling out, and getting cozy. Relaxers are also encouraged to take advantage of awesome deals during Woot’s Thanksgiving and Friday Woot-offs along with $5 flat rate shipping on any and all purchases they make on Woot (excluding Wine.Woot) from November 23rd through December 14th.
Alteio continued: “At Woot, we’d rather be indoors, looking at a picture of a mountain on the internet than on an actual mountain. In the same vein, we’d rather do our Black Friday shopping in our homes than in a store. We’re so excited to give our customers the opportunity to get great deals while also getting comfortable.”
Holiday Woot-offs and $5 Flat Rate Shipping
The customer favorite Woot-off, which showcases one deeply-discounted item at a time until it sells out, will run from 2pm PT on Thursday, November 26, through midnight PT on Saturday, November 28, featuring Woot’s best prices of the year. Customers can save up to 75% on select laptops and electronics, 70% on home goods, plus thousands of other deals running throughout the weekend. Customers can also enjoy $5 flat rate shipping on any and all items they purchase from Woot between Monday, November 23 and Monday, December 14.
