With extended opening hours and no appointment needed, pharmacists can be more accessible than other providers when it comes to consumer healthcare consultations yet they need to build their confidence in dispensing advice
Atlanta, Georgia (PRWEB) November 30, 2015
Innovaacom, a leading provider of medical education and training for healthcare professionals worldwide today released the results of a survey of educational needs for pharmacists worldwide. The poll of pharmacists in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa found a growing global demand for high quality online and face-to-face education for pharmacists who are fast becoming the new “gatekeepers” of community health.
In 2009, Innovaacom was the first medical education company to identify the need and develop successful models for engaging and training pharmacists in collaborative care healthcare communications best practices to improve patient outcomes. According to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, 1.6 million people visit the pharmacy each day in England alone and, “With extended opening hours and no appointment needed, pharmacists can be more accessible than other providers when it comes to consumer healthcare consultations yet they need to build their confidence in dispensing advice,” said Ornella Vincenzino, Founder of Innovaacom.
The recent poll, which coincided with Innovaacom’s sixth anniversary of educating pharmacists and providing Pharmacy CE, asked them what type of training could help them gain greater access to higher learning to perform their jobs better. The results found that 60% prefer to participate in on demand online education that cover topics such as patient adherence and lifestyle behaviors, product knowledge, consultation techniques, therapeutic area knowledge, and leadership and employee management tools.
Now established as a leader in providing scientific education and professional skills development for healthcare professionals anywhere in the world in any language, Innovaacom has trained nearly 10,000 pharmacists and physicians in more than 32 countries from across Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa, China and the Middle East in cardiovascular, anti-infective, pain, diabetes, hematology, women’s health, men’s health, and other therapeutic areas that impact community health.
