Creative Tonic, Two-Time Merit Winner in HOW International Design Awards
Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- Creative Tonic's two projects, Cove and HRCA (Hill Country Rides for Aids), were both chosen as Merit winners in the most recent HOW International Design Awards. This highly selective and well-regarded competition sponsored by HOW magazine recognizes excellence on a global scale.
HOW’s editorial and design team—along with Marina Willer of Pentagram, Sebastian Padilla of Anagrama, and Dana Arnett of VSA Partners—evaluated more than 1,000 entries and selected winning projects that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. Entries were judged by project type (e.g., apps, posters, packaging) rather than by industry or region.
Project title: Cove
Company: Creative Tonic
Creative team: Michelle Houp (Creative Director), Anthony Hurd (Designer), and April Dai (Designer).
Category: Identity (logos/ letterhead/business cards)
A travel-inspired retail retreat, Cove needed a sophisticated, high-end brand to help differentiate it from the traditional Austin look and feel. The mark and brand identity embody the spirit of the journey that combines interlocking elements and an open feel to give the brand an editorial edge and invite shoppers to explore the world of fashion.
Project title: Hill Country Ride for Aids
Company: Creative Tonic
Creative team: Michelle Houp (Creative Director), Anthony Hurd (Designer), Shelley Brand (Strategy).
Category: Miscellaneous (style guides, complex promos, etc.)
For 2015, The Hill Country Ride for AIDS wanted to return the Ride to its roots in laughter, love and the gay community. The resulting campaign combines bright colors, dynamic illustrations and bold patterns with a genuine, heartfelt tone to balance the spirited nature of the Ride with the seriousness of the cause.
“These projects are a great representation of the quality and breadth of work we strive to do with and for our clients here at Creative Tonic,” said Creative Tonic CEO and Founder, Michelle Houp. “Cove and HCRA were fantastic partners in the creative process and it shows in the end results of what we were able to accomplish together.”
All Merit winners will be featured in the Spring 2016 issue of HOW magazine and will be spotlighted on HOWdesign.com.
