LexisNexis on “Convenient Action—Continuity for Change”
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 30 November 2015 -- LexisNexis Legal & Professional (http://www.lexisnexis.co.uk) a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced the publication of Convenient Action—Continuity for Change, written by Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.
The book was released during the launch of the “Solar Alliance” initiative at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference - COP21/CMP11, by Mr. Narendra Modi and French President François Hollande in the presence of United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon. The audience included more than 100 global leaders and heads of State including David Cameron, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel, Xi Jinpeng, and many others. The Governments of more than 190 Nations are represented during the conference to discuss a proposed new global agreement on climate change, aimed at reducing global carbon emissions.
“Convenient Action—Continuity for Change” focuses on the initiatives taken by the Indian government under Mr. Narendra Modi since he took office in May 2014, placing particular emphasis on his vision of two important aspects of climate change: Climate Ethics and Climate Justice. In the book, Mr. Modi provides a snapshot of all the latest developments in India relating to climate change, demonstrating the great leap forward in India’s efforts to transform itself into a low-carbon economy. Building on a model of positive partnerships between people, businesses, the scientific community, governments and NGOs, Mr. Modi’s proposal calls for delivering clean energy and prosperity through site-dependent initiatives and scaling up efforts to bring about rapid transformation.
Narendra Modi was elected Prime Minister of India on 26 May 2014, prior to which he served four consecutive terms as the Chief Minister of the State of Gujurat in Western India. Climate ethics is embedded in the core of his thinking with a recent shift towards Climate Justice, and through this book Mr. Modi calls upon all world leaders to take concrete action towards dealing with climate change.
During the book launch the author mentioned that, “The Indian civilization has historically been conscious of the need to be in harmony with nature. The roots of this belief are steeped deep in Indian culture, pointed expression of which for respecting nature can be found in several Indian scriptures like the Vedas. The book is only a humble attempt to document initiatives and innovations that we have undertaken and experimented first in the State of Gujarat and now across India, that have directly or indirectly but significantly contributed and will continue to contribute to the adaptation and mitigation of Climate Change.”
Christian Fleck, Managing Director of LexisNexis UK said, “I am delighted and honoured that LexisNexis has had the opportunity to work alongside Mr. Modi in publishing this innovative book. Being a part of the project reflects our passion for and commitment towards advancing sustainability on a global scale. It is also demonstrated through empowering people to learn through India’s example in the drive for positive climate change action, which is ultimately geared towards a more sustainable future for ourselves and generations to come.”
“Convenient Action—Continuity for Change” will be available in most international stores across the UK, Europe, the US and others. A list of stores can be found at: http://www.lexisnexis.in/convenientaction.
