The Independent Hotel, located at the corner of 13th and Locust Streets in Center City Philadelphia, is hosting a reception on Tuesday, December 1 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. to celebrate the Fall Exhibit of works by the talented MFA students at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. This exhibit marks the fifth in the collaboration between the hotel and the top-rated school.
“The exhibit greatly enhances the look and local feel of both the hotel and the lobby,” said John Barsoum, general manager of The Independent Hotel. “As part of the Independent Collection, we have a strong connection to the community around us as well as a great appreciation for art. This partnership does a wonderful job of celebrating this connection and interest. ”
Located in the heart of Philadelphia, the 24-room boutique hotel offers a charming and intimate atmosphere, including a newly renovated lobby where the art exhibition will be presented. The urban space has been transformed to evoke the city’s cool and understated vibe. The lobby’s auberigine walls and fresh white leather couches are nicely complimented by the new works. A rustic wooden table next to the fireplace completes the lobby’s overall upscale pied-à-terre vibe.
The hotel began its partnership with Tyler School of Art in 2013 and rotates the art biannually, opening the exhibition to guests and the public. On December 1, locals and guests can view works by MFA students in Drawing and Painting. The fall exhibition includes works by Tyler students Bryant Girsch, Natasha Gusta, Sarah Heyward, Andrew Negrey, Destiny S. Palmer and Bianca Schreiber. RSVPs are required and can be sent to events(at)independentcollection(dot)com.
