Desert Southwest Chapter JDRF “Promise Ball” Raises Nearly $900,000 For Type 1 Diabetes Research in Scottsdale
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 04, 2015 -- On Saturday, November 7, 2015, the JDRF held their annual gala at Signature Flight Support’s hanger in Scottsdale and successfully raised nearly $900,000 for the research and potential cure for type 1 diabetes.
The “Promise Ball” was an evening full of live entertainment, cigar rollers, live and silent auctions, as well as an after party event. The ball was emceed by local TV personality, Cory McCloskey, with entertainment for the evening provided by legendary comedian, actor and talk show host, Arsenio Hall. Urban Electra, a female electric string quartet, performed well-known hits from artists like Muse, Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and everything in between.
Altogether the group managed to raise $840,000 and will use the money raised for research and programs for Type 1 Diabetes. According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, here in Arizona alone, one out of every nine people is diagnosed with T1D.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled at the success this event achieved,” said Paula Boca-Bommarito, Executive Director with JDRF. “Not only did we raise vital funds, but we continue to educate people when it comes to what it is like to live with T1D.”
