Lumus Builds Executive Team to Support Growing AR Market
Rehovot, Israel (PRWEB) December 04, 2015 -- Lumus Ltd., an optics company known for its industry-leading wearable display technology, has announced two executive appointments to help the company meet the growing demand for its enabling technology, which makes possible remarkable new augmented reality (AR) products. Along with other recent additions to its leadership team, the two team leaders are charged with executing plans for scaled-up production to achieve mass volumes while accelerating design cycles. Lumus provides its near-to-eye, transparent display enabling technology to top-tier partners that manufacture smart glasses and augmented reality eyewear today for the aviation, construction, energy, health care, insurance, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, and military industries, among others.
Lumus recently appointed Ben Weinberger as CEO; and Dr. Shlomo Kalish as Chairman of the Board. Building a new executive team will help the company’s plan to ramp up production to support new business and consumer products in the burgeoning AR market with their underlying technology.
“We searched far and wide to find the right people to manage the process of scaling our production volumes to meet our customers’ demands as the AR market continues to heat up,” said Ben Weinberger, CEO of Lumus. “We are on the precipice of a tectonic paradigm shift in which our physical and digital realities will merge, and Lumus optical engines are the lynchpin that can act as the fusing element to make that a reality.”
Dr. Aviv Frommer has been named vice president of research and development. Dr. Frommer has more than 20 years’ experience in the optical industry, most recently as vice president responsible for R&D across four product lines at Orbotech, (NASDAQ: ORBK) a leading international developer and producer of automated optical inspection and imaging manufacturing systems. Prior to joining Orbotech, Dr. Frommer served in research and in R&D management positions at Tower Semiconductors, Lynx Photonic Networks, KLA-Tencor, and AT&T Bell Labs. "It’s truly an honor to join a company that offers a breakthrough technology and such a talented team,” Dr. Frommer says. “I’m looking forward to build off of the company’s core technology and achieve new heights in innovation in the coming months.”

His previous experience includes a position as General Manager of Shamir Eyal, Ltd., and management roles at HP Digital Printing Division and Scitex Vision. “I’m excited to help Lumus scale production as our technology continues to be embraced by more and more companies servicing augmented and mixed reality applications,” Peled says.
