FlexJobs Highlights the 50 Most Surprising Flexible Jobs in 2015
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) December 03, 2015 -- After reviewing over a hundred thousand flexible job listings posted in the last year, FlexJobs has compiled 50 of the most surprising flexible job titles in 2015. These professional-level positions range from entry-level to executive-level and span across a variety of industries, such as science, education, law, health care, sports, food, communications and non-profit. A “flexible job” is defined as a job that has a telecommuting, flexible schedule, freelance, seasonal, or part-time component. The listings are currently, or were previously, posted in FlexJobs’ database in 2015.
“We’ve been tracking surprising flexible jobs that are currently hiring, as well as maintaining a historical collection of interesting jobs dating back to 2007,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs, the leading online service for hand-screened telecommuting and flexible jobs. “One of the main reasons we highlight these jobs is that most people believe that jobs that offer work flexibility are exclusively low-level, unskilled, and unprofessional -- whereas the truth is there are fantastic jobs in all industries and for almost any career path. We want to help educate people that viable professional flexible jobs exist.”
Combinations of flexibility type vary as well, ranging from full-time telecommuting to part-time seasonal to long-term freelance jobs. Companies that posted surprising flexible jobs in 2015 include IBM, the American Heart Association, Aetna, and American Express. Locations for these jobs vary widely across the globe as well, including Beijing, Brisbane, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Pittsburgh, the UK and Washington, D.C.
The job research team at FlexJobs screens and reviews thousands of jobs each week, and makes note of jobs that don’t fit the common perception of a flexible job. The team looks for several different characteristics that might make a job surprising.
Here are some examples of jobs with surprising characteristics:
- A job that isn’t traditionally flexible (example: Senior Marine Scientist)
- A job you wouldn't think could be done from home (example: Football Head Scout)
- A job that doesn't typically have a part-time schedule (example: Director of Marketing)
