Felix & Paul Studios Returns to Sundance Film Festival to Premiere Two New Cinematic Virtual Reality Experiences
Montreal, QC (PRWEB) December 03, 2015 -- Felix & Paul Studios, the leading creator of cinematic virtual reality experiences, will return to the Sundance Film Festival's New Frontier exhibit in 2016 to premiere two new virtual reality experiences: "Nomads: Maasai" and "Nomads: Sea Gypsies."
Directors Felix Lajeunesse and Paul Raphael continue their groundbreaking "Nomads" series, which allows viewers to experience and appreciate remote cultures through the directors' expert use of virtual reality's singular sense of presence.
Felix & Paul Studios' first VR experience in the "Nomads" series, "Nomads: Herders," premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival, and transported viewers to remote Mongolia to observe the lives of a family of yak herders.
"We are honored to return to Park City with 'Nomads,'" said Felix Lajeunesse, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Felix & Paul Studios. "The Nomads series and the medium of cinematic virtual reality allow us to immerse audiences into distant human realities in a highly intimate and sensorial way.”
"Nomads: Maasai" follows the semi-nomadic pastoralists living along the Great Rift Valley in southern Kenya and northern Tanzania. They are a patriarchal society where young men become initiated as warriors, male elders make most decisions for the community and women milk the cows, cook, make beaded adornments, and build the mud-based houses. Today, the Maasai increasingly struggle over the rights to their ancestral lands and many are now turning to alternative and supplemental means of income, including farming or tourism. The Maasai invite you to experience their daily lives.
"Nomads: Sea Gypsies" look at The Bajau sea nomads who live off fishing and spearfish hunting in the seas and oceans of South East Asia. A largely stateless people, they have lived on water for centuries, traditionally in longboat dwellings or more commonly today in stilt houses. As lifestyles change to adapt to the commercial fishing industries and territorial shifts, the way of life of the Bajau Laut is subject to increasing pressure. The viewer is invited to experience the daily life of a Bajau family.
"Nomads: Maasai" and "Nomads: Sea Gypsies" will premiere in the New Frontier section of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival, where last year the filmmakers also premiered "WILD - The Experience" with Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern alongside "Strangers - A Moment with Patrick Watson."
Felix & Paul Studios most recently launched "LeBron James Striving for Greatness" and "Inside Impact: East Africa" with President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative. Following a substantial investment from Oculus, Felix & Paul Studios also recently launched Headspace Studio, focused on sound design and mixing for VR.

About Felix & Paul Studios
Felix & Paul Studios is dedicated to storytelling through the medium of live-action virtual reality (VR).
