Apigee and Apcera Collaborate to Deliver Unified API and Application Governance
SAN JOSE, Calif. and SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) December 07, 2015 -- Apigee® (NASDAQ: APIC), developer of an intelligent API platform for digital business, and Apcera, provider of a policy-driven cloud application platform, today announced a collaboration to give enterprise IT teams the benefits of unified application governance and API management in building, deploying and securing APIs within an integrated platform solution.
Many businesses, such as those focused on the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital healthcare, must connect disparate environments and data across legacy and cloud-native workloads using APIs. The Apigee and Apcera technology integration will allow developers using the Apcera platform to leverage Apigee Edge API management, without needing to include additional code, to more easily connect systems across APIs and multiple clouds using identity management and access protocols. As customers look to expand their digital initiatives to include a greater variety of mobile and digital ecosystems — via emerging infrastructure technologies such as microservices and containers — this integration will allow them to extend real-time enforcement of policies across APIs, workloads and edge devices.
“Building and deploying secure, API-powered applications with speed and agility is key to modern digital business,” said Ed Anuff, executive vice president of strategy at Apigee. “Designed with a strong focus on security, the Apcera platform gives developers an efficient way to deploy, orchestrate and govern applications across multiple clouds. We are pleased to work with Apcera to give its users the added benefit of easily exposing and managing their APIs with Apigee.”
The Apcera trusted cloud platform is a policy-driven platform for cloud-native applications and microservices, with a strong focus on security. It enables developers to use modern tools and automate software deployment on any cloud, public or private, and on most on-premises infrastructure. Apigee Edge is a leading, enterprise-grade API management platform that enables organizations to securely deliver and manage APIs, with agility and at scale. When the integration with Apigee Edge becomes generally available, users will be able to quickly manage the end-to-end governance of their API workloads in Apcera.
“Security risks continue to be the biggest barrier to cloud adoption,” said Steve Dischinger, vice president of alliances and channels at Apcera. “Running Apigee Edge within the Apcera platform will create a single policy fabric across both applications and APIs that can be enforced in real time. APIs are a first-class citizen of Apcera’s platform, which provides the ability to manage API policies on both platforms and propagate security policies to match.”
The Apigee integration with the Apcera platform is expected to be available in early 2016.
