Cardiologist Announces the Creation of Palm Beach Heartstrong Program
Palm Beach Gardens, FL (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- Jeffrey S. Fenster, MD, FACC, a board-certified general and invasive cardiologist at the Cardiac Institute of the Palm Beaches in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, has dedicated his career to not only treating diseases of the heart but also preventing them. This is why Palm Beach Heartstrong was born.
Dr. Fenster is pleased to announce that after months of planning, Palm Beach Heartstrong is now up and running, and he has partnered with local country clubs and health clubs throughout Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter to offer personal training for his patients at reduced rates. The clubs in turn provide monthly updates for the patients’ medical records in Dr. Fenster’s office to track each person’s progress. Dr. Fenster also hired two dietitians to provide nutritional counseling - free of charge - to any patient meeting body mass index parameters.
As one of the few solo cardiologists specializing in the care of adults over 65, Dr. Fenster has carved a unique niche in the field of cardiovascular health. In his decade of caring for patients from a variety of backgrounds and geographic regions, he noticed certain consistent trends, all leading towards one conclusion: Heart disease can be greatly reduced if Americans learn to help themselves and prevent it in the first place.
“Palm Beach Heartstrong was created from teaching my patients that moderation in everything is the key to a happy, healthy life. Our aging population needs help learning that physical activity and good nutrition – both in moderation and with the goal of enjoying the process – is the path to leading functional, active, and independent lives,” Dr. Fenster said.
Studies have shown that the best opportunity to prevent heart disease in adulthood is when a child is of primary school age, so Palm Beach Heartstrong will also be bringing nutrition, fitness, and wellness instruction to 6-11 year-olds at the Max S. Fisher Boys & Girls Club in Riviera Beach, FL, starting February 2016. Additionally, for every pound lost by his patients at the Cardiac Institute of the Palm Beaches, Dr. Fenster will donate a dollar to the Boys & Girls Club, and is encouraging his patients to do the same.
It is Dr. Fenster’s sincerest hope to teach America the benefits of healthy living.
“My ultimate goal for Palm Beach Heartstrong is to bring health, fitness, and overall well-being to all of America – beyond the country clubs and fitness centers, into our wider communities, inner cities, and heartland. By giving back to our communities, we help ourselves by helping each other. Good health should be available to everyone, in every age group, in every neighborhood,” Dr. Fenster said.
