Patagonia Health to Launch Omaha System Charting App to EHR
Cary, NC (PRWEB) December 09, 2015 -- Patagonia Health, a Cary, NC-based EHR software vendor collaborates with Tri-County Health Department of Colorado to co-design an integrated Omaha System charting platform as a new element of their Electronic Health Records solution.
The Omaha System has been used by nurses and other clinicians since 1975. It was recognized as a standard for practice, documentation, and information management by the American Nurses Association in 1992 and has been adopted nationally and internationally by over 22,000 users since.
From the beginning, the Omaha System was designed to automate health care assessments and services at the point-of-care. Karen Martin, who is the author of the Omaha System book, was “very pleased that Patagonia Health is developing a new module based on the Omaha System in partnership with Tri-County Health Department. Although the Omaha System exists in the public domain, it must be programmed so clinicians can generate accurate and consistent data; Tri-County Health Department understands those principles.”
Tri-County Health Department (TCHD) was the driving force of the development project. TCHD was concerned that their previous EHR system lacked flow and was not originally designed to accommodate the Omaha System attributes. “I am very excited about Patagonia Health developing the module specifically to include the Omaha System functionality and that we are involved in that process” said Alix Hopkins, Nurse Manager TCHD. Hopkins is part of a team at TCHD that recently selected Patagonia Health as their new EHR vendor. Collaboration on design and development of the new integrated charting system is now underway.
This is a great example of how Patagonia Health collaborates with their customers to design features needed by the users. “The Patagonia Health EHR system is a customer-centric system. We design 2-3 new apps every year with the customers’ needs in mind, and many of the new app ideas come directly from working with our customers” says Ashok Mathur, CEO and Co-founder of Patagonia Health.
Patagonia Health is working closely with Tri-County Health Department to develop a built-in solution which adheres to Omaha System principles. With this project, Patagonia Health will be one of few federally certified EHR companies with integrated Omaha System capabilities.
