We are pleased to award the ISTE Seal of Alignment to JMU and look forward to working with the team there in the future.

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) today announced that it awarded a Seal of Alignment for Mastery to James Madison University (JMU) for its ISTE-T Certification Program, a portfolio-based assessment program for teachers designed to certify that they have demonstrated alignment to the ISTE Standards for Teachers.

This certification program, offered by JMU's Outreach & Engagement, is a rigorous assessment of teacher portfolio submissions aligned to all of the ISTE Standards for Teachers indicators. This program is a valuable opportunity for driven, self-directed learners, confident in their use of technology, and eager to measure their use of technology in the classroom against an international standard.

“ISTE reviewers found the ISTE-T Certification Program to be a well-designed and robust assessment system that provides strong evidence of teachers’ achievement of the ISTE Standards for Teachers,” said Carolyn Sykora, senior director, ISTE Standards Program. “We are pleased to award the ISTE Seal of Alignment to JMU and look forward to working with the team there in the future.”

Products and resources submitted to the ISTE Seal of Alignment program undergo a rigorous review by a panel of subject matter experts who have a deep understanding of the ISTE Standards. Resources and solutions seeking the ISTE Seal of Alignment are evaluated based on their pedagogical value and the extent to which they build the skills embodied in the standards. The Seal of Alignment for Mastery recognizes resources that incorporate ISTE Standards-aligned learning objectives as well as specified implementation plans and that have embedded tools for measuring performance skills.
