Misty Megia of The Sleeter Group Recognized as One of the Most Powerful Women in Accounting
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) December 09, 2015 -- Misty Megia, Executive Director of The Sleeter Group, was recognized last week as one of the Most Powerful Women in Accounting by CPA Practice Advisor Magazine. The annual awards ceremony was held at SleeterCon 2015 at the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The prestigious awards recognize the top 25 women who have had significant contributions to the accounting profession. Increasingly, it is women who are influential leaders in the space and help shape the community with their efforts. Many recipients are CPA’s themselves, while others serve in roles as consultants, executives leading technology organizations or in Misty’s case, serve as a leader for the top membership community of accountants.
Misty was nominated by various peers including The Sleeter Group members, and vendors whom she helps daily. During the nomination process, Misty was noted as assisting vendors to better understand the accounting profession and helping refine the go to market strategy of countless organizations. As Gail Perry, Editor in Chief of CPA Practice Advisor, noted at the awards ceremony: these women have a distinct impact on the accounting profession and their absence would have a ripple effect on the community as a whole.
Misty joined The Sleeter Group in 2013 and helped guide the company in the recent transition after being acquired by Diversified Communications. She plays a critical role in not only driving the membership community but also partner relationships, the annual accounting technology conference and continuing education. “I am beyond honored to be recognized by CPA Practice Advisor as one of the Most Powerful Women in Accounting,” commented Misty, “It is so incredible to share the stage with the others that are being honored this year as I am in awe of all of them and how they are making a difference in this industry/profession on a daily basis.”
