ECPI University’s Virginia Beach campus is now offering a Master of Science in Cybersecurity degree program. Prospective students may enroll in one of two concentrations: Cybersecurity Policy or Cyber Operations.

“Worldwide threats to information systems continue to escalate at an alarming rate,” says ECPI University Virginia Beach Campus President Kevin Paveglio. “Hackers are becoming more sophisticated, and organizations must match or exceed that level of expertise. They are asking for highly-trained professionals, and we are responding to that demand.”

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 37 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all other occupations.

ECPI University’s program is based primarily on the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security program requirements for designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense.

Students will be challenged to develop skills in such areas as:

  •     Cyber Forensics
  •     Applied Cryptography and Data Protection
  •     Cybersecurity Governance and Compliance
  •     Cloud, wireless, and mobile security
  •     Security Architecture & Design
  •     Ethical Hacking

Graduates can go on to manage complex IT projects, design secure computer systems, and develop innovative hardware and software system architectures. ECPI University’s curriculum is designed to prepare graduates for advanced cybersecurity certification examinations such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Administration and Network Security (SANS), and Chief Information Security Officer (C:CISO).
