Mashable and FilmBuff Partner to Promote and Distribute Lesley Chilcott’s, CodeGirl
New York, NY (PRWEB) December 08, 2015 -- Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, and FilmBuff, an award-winning full-service distribution company, today announced a partnership to exclusively distribute and promote the documentary CodeGirl, written and directed by award winning filmmaker, Lesley Chilcott, on Mashable and its AppleTV app.
Lesley Chilcott, who has previously produced documentaries such as An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for ‘Superman’ and directed A Small Section of the World, now chronicles teams of high school aged girls from around the world as they try to better their community through technology and collaboration, and compete in the international Technovation Challenge. The winning team gets $10,000 to complete and release their app, but every girl discovers something valuable along the way.
“Mashable is proud to be partnering with FilmBuff to distribute and promote our first full length feature film, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting project to do that with than CodeGirl,” said Adam Ostrow, Chief Strategy Officer. “The story is a significant one for our audience and our industry, and we’re excited to share it across all of our platforms, including our Apple TV app. We believe delivering premium long form video content on over the top platforms like Apple TV represents an important part to our distribution strategy going forward.”
In addition to distributing the film on Mashable and its AppleTV app, Mashable will be creating original video and other content to promote the film, its subject matter, and its creators. This content will live across Mashable’s distributed platforms, which now combine for over 26 million followers.
“We are delighted that Mashable had chosen CodeGirl to be their first foray into long form video,” says Janet Brown, CEO of FilmBuff. “The film's focus on increasing the number of women in technology speaks to a very timely issue in the tech world and Mashable is the ideal partner to connect with that audience.”
The partnership will begin the week of January 6th, and CodeGirl can currently be found at http://www.codegirlmovie.com, on Facebook at CodeGirlMovie and on Twitter @codegirlmovie and #CodeGirlMovie.
