Say No to Drugs Day Proclamation for 19 December 2015:
WHEREAS the single most destructive element pervading our culture is the presence of drugs and the subsequent abuse of drugs; and WHEREAS drugs heavily contribute to a debilitated society; and WHEREAS drugs cause devastating effects for individuals, their families, and their groups; and WHEREAS any drug epidemic can and should be fought against, but it particularly has no place in the city of Clearwater, Florida; and
WHEREAS the first battle in the war against drugs begins with bringing up the awareness and education level of drugs and their effects with every individual—in particular, our youth; and WHEREAS The Say No to Drugs Holiday Classic Race, in partnership with the Foundation for a Drug Free World Florida, has provided education and raised awareness to thousands of parents and youth throughout Clearwater and the Tampa Bay Area for 27 consecutive years; NOW, THEREFORE, I, George Cretekos, Mayor of the city of Clearwater, Florida, do hereby proclaim December 19, 2015, “SAY NO TO DRUGS DAY” in Clearwater, and I encourage all Clearwater citizens to become more aware of the truth about drugs and to participate in various drug awareness programs on the fight against drug abuse.
