Groundbreaking Addiction Treatment Center Opens in Chicago
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) December 15, 2015 -- Neighbors, the general public, and interested parties are invited to stop by for tours of the stunning facility, Q&A, program descriptions, and “meet the Directors” which are all part of the itinerary. If possible, please RSVP at 773.940.2960 so that nearby Inspiration Kitchens (a culinary training program for the disadvantaged) can have enough gourmet food available. If RSVP is not possible, please stop by anyway and partake. Governor Bruce Rauner was kind enough to stop by at our previous opening event and this event promises to attract even more prominent local celebrities.
Located in the heart of the west side of Chicago between the California and Kedzie Green Line CTA Stations, the 2942 West Lake Street address is a one-of-a-kind showroom of beautifully repurposed furniture and art that is intended to welcome clients. As original as the décor is the one-of-a-kind menu of treatment modalities which is considered completely original in this field. The staff of Above and Beyond sincerely believe that all of their clients are human beings worthy of being treated as creative, resourceful, and whole.
The creative beauty of the physical location is mirrored in the program offerings which are holistically designed to interface with the whole person instead of just their social dysfunctions. The person is not their addiction. Amidst the current program lineup is a proprietary five-week job readiness program, a series of art therapy classes, and a trauma assessment and counseling group.
Above and Beyond is a level 1 and level 2 substance abuse treatment center that adheres to a harm reduction model with a range of programs that will take clients from the street, or from their dysfunctional living situations, all the way to housing and employment with case management, counseling, and hands-on supportive interactions as their guides.
The pioneering nature of this unique venture was the brainchild of Brian Cressey, Board Chair; Gwenn Williams, Executive Co-Director; and Herman Russell, Director of Sober Support. As Gwenn puts it, “because we are privately funded and not at the mercy of grant requirements or directive donor demands, we have been able to put together a process of holistic modalities that can live under one roof like no other substance abuse clinic that we know of in the City of Chicago. We intend to guide our growth and development through the use of evidence based reporting and metrics which will help us amplify what works and discard what doesn’t.”
The vision of Above and Beyond is to build an individualized treatment experience that meets individuals and families where they are at, as well as addressing social environments and life circumstances such as: education, employment readiness, interpersonal relationships, and community activities. Clinical services are provided through individual and group sessions guided by certified counselors and licensed clinicians. Any services not provided directly by Above and Beyond will be covered by linkage agreements to facilities that can provide them with the same embedded attitude of joy through servitude that Above and Beyond embraces.
