G2 Crowd, the world’s leading business software review platform, today released the Winter 2016 Transactional Email Software GridSM report to help businesses make the best technology decisions. Mailgun was named a Leader in the report, receiving a strong customer satisfaction score with a large market presence score. Additionally, Mandrill and SendinBlue were named High Performers, earning strong customer satisfaction scores with smaller market presence scores. Mailgun earned the highest overall satisfaction score while Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES) earned the highest overall market presence score.
The GridSM leverages customer satisfaction data reported by authenticated users along with vendor market presence determined from social and public data. Based on a combination of these scores, each software solution is categorized as Leader, High Performer, Contender, or Niche.
Overall, the transactional email feature satisfaction ratings were widespread, spanning from 68 percent to 94 percent. The highest-rated feature was performance and reliability at 94 percent, and the lowest-rated feature was tracking and reporting at 68 percent. Within the performance and reliability category, Mailjet and SendGrid were the highest and lowest-rated vendors, earning 100 percent and 87 percent satisfaction ratings, respectively.
Key findings revealed users were dissatisfied with pre-built templates and custom template builders, and reported that these product features were not useful or user friendly. These insights are reflected in the relatively low feature ratings, as preset template availability received a 75 percent average satisfaction score. The lowest-rated feature, tracking and reporting, was a major differentiator amongst vendors, spanning from zero percent to 90 percent, with an average of 68 percent.
Despite the highs and lows of satisfaction scores for individual product features, the transactional email software platforms were rated highly for ease of doing business, use and setup. Almost all ranked vendors deployed their software via the cloud, with almost 100 percent of installations completed by in-house teams. This contributed to the strong satisfaction ratings, with ease of setup and use rated at 87 and 89 percent, respectively.
