For the past three years we've had much more public involvement in some of our bigger events. This has allowed us to substantially increase our annual contributions.
Outer Banks, NC (PRWEB) December 17, 2015
For the seventh, consecutive year, Village Realty staff members have generously raised money to support the Outer Banks Woman’s Club Angel Gift Program, a local charity with the Christmas mission to bring clothes and toys to less fortunate children in the region. With the success of a variety of unique departmental fundraisers, employees were able to raise an impressive $6,933, an amount doubled by Village Realty, bringing the total collection to $13,866. A portion of this sum will be donated directly to area families in need, while a check for $12,066 has been presented to the Angel Gift Program, surpassing last year’s contribution by a remarkable $2000. “We are so proud of all of our employees and agents and thankful to Village Realty for matching what we raised.” said Emily Lewis, Village Realty’s Employee Relations Coordinator. “Our hope is that we have made the holidays a little brighter for many families in our community.”
Ten diverse fundraisers were coordinated throughout the fall, hosted by different departments within the company, including a successful chili chowder cook-off (and bake-sale), held by the Sales team, which earned $1075. The Housekeeping crew was able to bring in $1012 from two profitable yard sales, while the very popular “Breakfast with Santa” event, a collaboration of the Marketing, Maintenance and Association Management departments, raised $2,733 this year. Other events organized by employees included an online wreath sale, a quilt raffle and a popular company-wide, dress-down fund where employees donate $1 to participate in off-season denim days. “Initially, most of the events were strictly in-house,” explained Emily Lewis, “but for the past three years we've had much more public involvement in some of our bigger events. This has allowed us to substantially increase our annual contributions.” She added, “These events are great team builders for our staff and everyone enjoys participating. Some have shared how meaningful it is for them to be able to give something back through these efforts, as in the past they, too, have found themselves in need of extra help at Christmas.”
Since 1987, the Angel Gift Program has presented toys and clothing to underprivileged local children during the holidays. Sponsored by The Outer Banks Woman’s Club, in partnership with Dare County Social Services, the program’s purpose is to provide a special Christmas to the more than 450 eligible children in the community.
