CEO and Founder of Glitek Glide™, Tony Le, Discusses Avoiding Hoverboard Battery Dangers on Good Morning America and Inside Edition
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 18, 2015 -- In response to a series of recent fires related to overheated hoverboard batteries, Tony Le, CEO and Founder of Glitek commented on these potential dangers and how to avoid them by purchasing from a reputable hoverboard brand.
These fires are due to the fact that some manufacturers are using lower quality batteries from overseas to help cut costs. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently seized 164 hoverboards with fake batteries or other counterfeit marks.
"We sold thousands of these and have had zero issues with the batteries," said Le in a recent segment of Good Morning America. "The reason you see all these issues with the batteries is that a lot of these companies are trying to make a quick buck and they're using the cheapest Chinese batteries on the market today. These products we have are totally revolutionary; they're here to stay so we spend a huge amount on battery technology."
Le continued, "Cheap Chinese batteries do not have built-in circuit protection. There's a board in the Glitek Glide™ that regulates power and also acts as a circuit protector. It would never overheat; if it does, it just shuts down the battery. You want to deal with a reputable company and you want to make sure the battery is branded: Samsung, LG, Sony – if they don't say it, chances are it's a cheap battery. Cheap batteries will not last past six months."
Tony Le offered this advice during the Good Morning America interview, as well as a segment of Inside Edition, to anyone looking to purchase a hoverboard:
• Use a reputable company
• Check for brand named battery
• Make sure there's at least a one-year warranty
