Windpact Hosts NFL Players for Sports Safety Discussion with Concussion Viewing
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) December 21, 2015 -- Newly launched safety technology company Windpact, Inc., led by CEO Shawn Springs, a 13-year NFL veteran, will host a private viewing of the new movie Concussion and panel discussion about the film, with appearances from current and former NFL players, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Reston, Virginia.
Shawn will lead the players in a discussion about their experience with head impacts and traumatic brain injury. Following the movie, Shawn will give a brief overview of how Windpact is leveraging its patented Crash CloudTM technology to reduce the risk of long-term damage explored in the movie. A Q&A session will follow.
“Windpact’s mission is to become synonymous with head protection. We appreciate the lively discus-sion that Concussion has sparked around the devastating effects of repeated low to medium velocity impacts on NFL players’ brains. Medical and helmet testing data shows us that children, weekend warriors, athletes in a wide array of sports and soldiers are all exposed to these risks. At Windpact, we’re working to bring next generation helmets to market in an effort to improve current head protection to better protect against these types of impacts,” said CEO Shawn Springs.
Like most NFL players, Shawn has had numerous violent collisions on the field throughout his football career, however it was a car accident with his family and the outstanding protection of the air cushions on his son’s car seat that first sparked the idea for Windpact. Today, Windpact’s Crash Cloud uses the same absorption and dispersion technology found in that very car seat (and millions of others on the market). This technologically advanced helmet padding is groundbreaking in its approach to protecting users from the cumulative negative impact of low to medium collisions.
Concussion, starring Will Smith, is a dramatic thriller based on the incredible true story of American im-migrant Dr. Bennet Omalu, the brilliant forensic neuropathologist who discovered the link between chronic traumatic encephalopathy (or CTE) and professional football and his fight to make the truth known.
Windpact is currently in the process of integrating its Crash Cloud technology into helmets in various sports and is working with its partners to bring a commercialized product to retail shelves in the near future.
