Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) December 22, 2015
The entire BigLook360 team would like to congratulate our friend and associate, Jerry Steinberg on his induction to the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
The ninth annual Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held at the New York Hilton Hotel in midtown Manhattan on December 15, 2015. Other inductees included industry legend Ted Turner and broadcasters Marv Albert and Dick Button, Fox Sports audio consultant Fred Aldous, NFL director Sandy Grossman, producer Mike Pearl, and Game Creek Video President Pat Sullivan.
Referred to as “The Godfather” by his Fox Sports colleagues, Jerry Steinberg's career in sports began in 1979 as the EIC for ESPN. In 1994, he joined Fox Sports to manage all aspects of operations for live events, and while there oversaw technical innovations, including the first-and-10 marker on NFL games, more expansive coverage of NASCAR racing and MLB games, and the transition from SD to HD.
Eventually, Steinberg would manage operations for all of Fox’s live broadcasts (upwards of 300 a year), including facilities, personnel, and new technologies. Besides the World Series and Super Bowls, he has overseen eight Daytona 500 races, BCS and National Championship games, and Stanley Cup Finals.
Still Looking to the Next Big Thing
Steinberg officially retired from Fox Sports last year, but he still has a desire to tackle the next big thing as a consultant on a variety of next-generation technologies, including advising BigLook360, a virtual reality content creation and solution provider, as a strategic consultant. With BigLook360, Steinberg will be driving next-generation sports and entertainment with the transition from HD to VR.
Dallas, TX-based BigLook360 has nearly two decades of producing and live-streaming immersive VR content. BigLook360’s team is comprised of uniquely talented individuals having unparalleled experience with the creation, production, and application development of immersive virtual reality experiences.
“With Jerry’s vast experience and knowledge of the sports and entertainment industry, he provides valuable insight in helping us bring virtual reality to the mainstream.” says BigLook360’s CEO, Lance Loesberg. “Many professionals in the industry tap into Jerry’s vast wealth of broadcast and production knowledge. We all value his vision and ability to use technology for enhancing the viewers’ experience.”
Growing up eight blocks from Yankee Stadium, Steinberg didn’t set out to build a career in sports, but it was a happy coincidence that he has spent his life working in sports television. “For a guy like me, this is the greatest blessing in the world,” he says. “I’m very fortunate to be able to make my living and love my job.”
We couldn’t think of a person more deserving of such a great honor. We’re excited about having you with us as we write the next chapter in sports and entertainment. Congratulations Jerry.
About the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame
For the sports broadcasting production community the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame is dream turned reality. In an industry that has more than its fair share of halls of distinction, it was strange and somewhat disillusioning for there not to be a single place where all of those individuals who have enriched the lives of so many fans, and who have utilized technology in so many brave new ways could be recognized for their achievements.
The Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame’s goal is simple: to honor those from across the entire spectrum of the sports broadcast industry who impacted, directly or indirectly, the way sports television is produced.
