Rigaku Corporation has published a new scientific poster depicting the 14 Bravais lattice types categorized into 7 lattice systems.
In crystallography, a lattice is a 3-dimensional geometric arrangement of atoms, molecules or ions composing a crystal. There are 14 unique combinations of lattice types, collectively known as the Bravais lattices.
The new poster presents the 14 Bravais lattice types arranged within the seven lattice systems: triclinic, monoclinic, orthorhombic, tetragonal, trigonal, hexagonal, cubic.
The poster is available as a reference for those employing the technique of single crystal X-ray diffraction. This technique is applied across a wide range of areas, including new synthetic chemicals, catalysts, metal organic frameworks, pharmaceuticals, and natural products.
