YPO and WYN Support “#LeanInTogether” Campaign from LeanIn.Org
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- Lean In launches its new initiative #LeanInTogether with the support of YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), the largest not-for-profit, global network of young chief executives, and WYN (Women’s YPO Network) connecting more than 1,000 female chief executives globally to foster better leaders through education and idea exchange. #LeanInTogether is a public awareness campaign, in partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), focused on men and their important role in reaching gender equality.
In 2013, YPO and the Women’s YPO Network partnered with Sheryl Sandberg and her organization, Lean In, to address the stalled percentage of women in business leadership roles in the past 10 years. Lean In launches its new initiative #LeanInTogether this month with the support of YPO and WYN. The campaign encourages men to “show the world they’re for equality” and women to “celebrate men leaning in for equality” by posting with the hashtag #LeanInTogether.
“Fathers who are involved in all aspects of their children’s lives — including caregiving, ultimately have better relationships with their children and stronger marriages,” says WYN Chair, Cynthia Cleveland. “I know this both from research and my own life!”
More than three decades after women became 50 percent of college graduates in the United States, women constitute just 5 percent of S&P 500 CEOs and only 19 percent of U.S. Congressional seats. As women who have beaten the odds in business, WYN members of YPO are in a strong position to influence the next generation of women leaders. WYN actively endorses #LeanInTogether’s public awareness campaign, focusing on how men benefit from supporting women and achieve happier marriages, more successful children and better team outcomes — and provides practical information on how men can do their part at home and at work.
“Men should support their wives and daughters at home and their female colleagues in the workplace, not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s great for them,” said Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO and founder of LeanIn.Org. “From stronger marriages and healthier, happier children to better outcomes at work, the benefits of men leaning in for equality are huge.”
The Women’s YPO Network provides a unique forum for women leaders to share successes, challenges and experiences and is comprised of female-run companies that employ more than 42,000 people, have a combined revenue of US$6 trillion and represent 25 industries in 68 countries.
