eSportsfanz – the first company to create analytics for eSports fantasy– is pleased to announce the highly anticipated beta of its new fantasy eSports platform.
“eSportsfanz offers the next step in the evolution of the eSports experience for fans by providing members of the eSports community with public and private fantasy leagues” said Matt Vargas, founder and CEO of eSportsfanz. Rather than picking players for fantasy teams based on judgements, players now have the opportunity to research professionals using our unique new ‘Z-Scores’. Drawing on their intimate knowledge of the games and the pro athletes, the data scientists at eSportsfanz have created new predictive analytics that are mathematically derived from actual results for players and teams in tournament play.”
Z-Scores are an evaluation method for tracking players based on their in-game impact. Using statistics such as kills, deaths, and assists, eSportsfanz has developed an algorithm that accounts for game time as well as the ‘snowball effect’, to generate an efficiency rating for League of Legends professional players. This efficiency rating allows fantasy users to understand players’ actual individual impact within the game, and creates more accurate fantasy values.
eSportsfanz beta will initially support the League of Legends North American and European LCS summer split season. The company plans to expand its support to additional eSports titles in the near future.
“The worldwide eSports phenomenon reaches millions through live tournaments, live streaming and broadcasts on Twitch, YouTube and ESPN; eSports are growing at a pace that will soon put them on par with traditional sports,” said eSportsfanz advisor, Steven Wade, the creator of the successful eSports news site, MMORPG.com. “eSportsfanz is addressing an unmet need for good player and game analysis for eSports. eSportsfanz data and analytics are poised to revolutionize eSports just as statistics transformed professional basketball and baseball over the last 15 years,”
eSports are predicted to generate in excess of (US) $500 million in revenue by 2017; fantasy sports currently generate over (US) $3.6 billion annually. Launched earlier this year, eSportsfanz is a privately funded company in Silicon Valley.
