Belvoir Federal’s Financial Counselor Achieves AFC® Designation

Woodbridge, VA (PRWEB) November 04, 2015 -- Belvoir Federal Credit Union’s Financial Counselor, Shannon Lindstrom, received a new designation as an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) from the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® (AFCPE).

The AFC certification marks the highest standard of excellence in the field of financial counseling and education. The designation maintains that professionals are trained to guide their clients through a holistic, counseling framework of life cycle financial education. The method allows for a high-level, tailored approach based on the needs of each client to effectively analyze and create a lasting financial behavior change.

This certification requires that one participate in an eight week course, pass an exam, complete 1,000 hours of financial counseling, submit three letters of reference, and agree to the AFC Code of Ethics.

Shannon stated, “I am thrilled to receive the AFC designation from AFCPE – a widely recognized designation known for providing a standard of excellence among financial counselors. The certification process provided a valuable opportunity for me to increase my knowledge base while learning new, innovative ways to help our members overcome financial hurdles and get on the path to financial success.”
