Love is in the air in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and West Virginia

The northern Blue Ridge Shenandoah Valley from Shepherdstown, West Virginia to Harrisonburg, Virginia offers luxury country inns to newly restored historic hotels and manor houses to wilder adventuresome venues and even out of the box theatrical venues. There are barns and horse ranches with magnificent views for the bride looking for a more rustic setting and of course wineries are around every corner. Here in the valley, one has the advantage of no airplane hassles plus guests will love to visit the Virginia and West Virginia’s mountains and valleys.

Kicking off the fall wedding season, Go Blue Ridge Travel has picked eight wedding locations and designated a price range from the most luxurious to the most affordable.

Salamander Resort and Spa $$$$$ is located in the Middleburg, Virginia. Opening in August of 2013, Salamander offers the highest luxurious option here in the northern Virginia area. Set on 340 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains amid Virginia’s famed horse country and lush vineyards, and just 35 minutes from Washington Dulles International Airport. Salamander Resort & Spa features 168 luxurious rooms and suites, a luxury spa, and a full-service equestrian center.

Hillbrook Inn and Spa $$$$ is a beautiful luxurious three home estate in Charles Town, West Virginia. Situated on George Washington’s first land purchase in 1750, Hillbrook Inn evokes a warm, relaxing and inviting atmosphere for guests to enjoy. More than 30 sprawling acres divided among three separate properties provide a quiet retreat just one hour outside of Washington D.C. Local attractions include award-winning Virginia wineries, the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Summit Point Speedway and Harpers Ferry.

The George Washington Hotel $$$ - A Wyndham Grand Hotel is a restored historic hotel just one block from Old Town Winchester. One could get married on the historic steps of the Old Civil War Trust Museum and then take a carriage ride to the hotel or in the beautiful gardens of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. The newly redecorated George’s Food and Spirit’s is a great place to offer one’s guests to have a private dinner. The Half Note offers entertainment on the weekends and the Roman Style Pool is the background for the George Washington’s spa.

The Stable at Bluemont Vineyard $$$ is part of the Zurschmeide farm-brewery-winery complex in Bluemont, Virginia. Sitting high up on the mountain ridge, it is the view of Loudoun County that this venue is most known for. Rustic but elegant, the Stable is just one hour from DC nestled in northern Virginia's wine country. Wedding guests have a choice of bed and breakfasts or hotels within a 15 - 30 minute drive.

Historic Jordan Springs Estate’s $$ earliest recorded history begins in 1549, when discovered by the Catawaba Indians for the two mineral springs. Purchased in 2001, Historic Jordan Springs is an all-inclusive event and cultural centre. If one is looking for exquisite design and decor under the direction of Colt Nutter, then Jordan Springs should be the venue of choice located just outside of Winchester, Virginia.

Bright Box Theater $$ is a gem of a venue in Old Town Winchester, Virginia. This is a venue for the bride and groom who want to think out of the box. Located right across from the courthouse, the venue once housed a department store and office spaces. After considerable renovation Bright Box is perfect for a dynamic wedding reception, funky rehearsal dinner, or imaginative after party.

Piney Ridge Weddings $ sits on the Virginia mountain ridge overlooking the Potomac River in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Owned by HF Adventure, this setting is for the couple who wants the rustic setting of campgrounds and cabins. Plan a trip down the Potomac River for guests. Another venue for the special bride and groom where formality goes by the wayside and love of nature is first above all else.

Pleasant View Events $ is in Mt Jackson, Virginia. Located on a farm setting, this barn location lets one have the Shenandoah Valley as the wedding backdrop. In the past years, barns have been the fastest growing wedding venues following the wineries. Pleasant View allows a bride lots of flexibility to shape one’s wedding based on a limited budget.

Whether the bridal couple prefers casual or formal, understated or over the top, intimate and small or a gathering of many, these wedding venues above offer selections of indoor and outdoor settings so one may customize the celebration.
