Nominations Now Open for the 9th Annual Oakland Indie Awards
(PRWEB) March 11, 2015 -- The 9th Annual Oakland Indie Awards, presented by Beneficial State Bank and Foundation, aims to build prosperity in our community by celebrating the social, economic, and environmental impacts of locally-owned businesses and artists. The community is invited to nominate their favorite Oakland-based businesses or artists for any of the seven categories: Oakland Soul, Ripple Effect, Innovative Newcomer, Greenie, Social Changemaker, Pillar, and Job Creator. Nominations are open until March 31st at http://www.OaklandIndieAwards.com.
The crowd that gathers to celebrate the Indie Award winners at the After Party is as diverse as Oakland itself. Attendees include Oakland residents, nonprofit advocates, public officials, city leaders, and an eclectic group of 500+ deeply community-minded nominees that showcase all that Oakland has to offer. Over the past eight years, the Indie Awards has presented Oakland’s local rock stars with over 100 awards. Previous winners include Impact HUB Oakland, Revolution Foods, Kev Choice, and Sungevity.
“The Oakland Indie Awards is a chance for all of us to appreciate the amazing creativity and activism displayed by Oakland’s entrepreneurs,” said Oakland Indie Awards founder & Beneficial State’s Chief Impact Officer, Erin Kilmer-Neel. This party with a purpose features live performances, fresh food and drinks, an Indie Marketplace, revolutionary art and an all-around great vibe.
The May 29th After Party starts at 6:30pm at Jack London Square’s Market Building (55 Harrison) in Oakland. More information can be found at http://www.Oaklandindieawards.com.
