Rock West Composites Launches Exclusive Carbon Erector™ Product Line

This month Rock West Composites presents its newest and exclusive product line Carbon Erector™, which is designed to meet a need in the marketplace for lightweight, modular structures with construction strength suitable for aerospace and industrial applications. Comprised of connector kits that accommodate three standard sizes of off-the-shelf, round, carbon fiber tubes, the Carbon Erector system enables the rapid construction of a near infinite variety of structures that require no bonding or adhesives.

This month Rock West Composites (RWC) is launching a new and exclusive system of aircraft-grade, aluminum connector joints called Carbon Erector™. Carbon Erector is an enabling technology that will allow individuals and businesses to construct an extensive variety of structures made of prefabricated carbon fiber composite tubes and plates joined by Carbon Erector connectors. The finished structures will be significantly stronger and lighter in weight—properties of great value to customers in a variety of markets—than existing comparable technologies using all aluminum or steel. RWC will also provide assembly services as part of this new offering.

The initial Carbon Erector product line is comprised of a series of 24 different connector kits, which include connectors made of CNC-machined, aircraft-grade 6061-T6 black anodized aluminum and screws with 170,000 PSI tensile strength. The construction method is mechanical and requires no adhesives or bonding. The product line currently supports construction using 1-inch, 1.5-inch and 2.0-inch Interior Diameter (ID) round carbon fiber composite tubing of varying thicknesses and any plate thickness.

The joints are designed to facilitate an almost infinite number of connections on planes, intersections and corners. These kits will allow the rapid construction and reconfiguration of modular structures utilizing pre-manufactured and readily available carbon fiber composite tubing and plates. In addition, Rock West Composites is also able to design connectors for other tube sizes based on customers’ specific needs.
