North Carolina Attorney David Daggett Receives Prestigious Trial Lawyers Care Award from the American Association for Justice
Winston-Salem, North Carolina (PRWEB) July 11, 2015 -- The American Association for Justice has named David Daggett, managing partner of Daggett Shuler Attorneys at Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, a recipient of the Trial Lawyers Care Award for 2015. "The American Association for Justice Trial Lawyers Care Award recognizes the effort of members who serve the community and foster positive relationships with the public through volunteer activities. Their outstanding effort demonstrates how trial lawyers care."
The American Association for Justice honors David Daggett for his 25 year commitment to Safe Sober Prom Night, a non-profit organization he cofounded in 1991 in response to the tragic loss of young lives and promising futures due to teenage impaired driving. The program engages high school students through speakers, presentations, and most importantly, positive peer pressure to make safe and responsible choices regarding alcohol and drug use and overall life decisions for success.
Safe Sober Prom Night programs are now embraced by the students, the school faculty and staff, and the parents and community in a total of 47 high schools across ten counties of the Triad Region of North Carolina. David Daggett and his law partner, Griff Shuler, personally visit the schools each springtime and encourage the students to sign the Safe Sober Prom Night pledge, promising to stay safe and sober on prom night. Over the past 25 years, more than a half million students have signed the pledge to "Do It Right!" and have donned the Safe Sober Prom Night student-designed T-shirt as a badge of honor. Many of today's students are second generation pledge signers, and the program is the longest running privately funded initiative of its type in the United States.
David Daggett is a true believer that unless the future generations turn out better than ours, that both have failed, “I have a passion for our young people and our young people today are as motivated and energetic as any generation we have ever had. What they need from us is for all of us to wrap our arms around them and give them encouragement, leadership, and support to put them on the road to success. That’s what they want. They just need us to give them the leadership to go there.”
The American Association for Justice is the largest association of trial lawyers in the world. Through their Trial Lawyers Care Award, given this year at their annual convention in Montreal, Canada, they encourage and recognize those trial lawyers who perform extraordinary volunteer and charitable activities in their communities. The 2015 Trial Lawyers Care Award presented to David Daggett honors one of their own who truly and daily demonstrates his enduring care and faith in the young people of his community.
