Our company will always take into consideration the protection of the planet for generations to come. We base our decisions on helping shape a better future for everyone.

DNS Made Easy announces a continued “green initiative” outlining the ways the company continues to reduce its power footprint while increasing services for clients. This Earth Day, DNS Made Easy joins hundreds of other countries working together to make a difference today, this week and every day.
"We can all make a difference, but together, we can create dramatic changes for today and the future," said Steven Job, president of DNS Made Easy, the world leader in enterprise IP Anycast services. "Our goal is to set an example for other companies and act as a catalyst for change for other business, especially in our industry."
Recently, DNS Made Easy added supporting infrastructure locations in Tokyo and Seattle and upgraded its San Jose point of presence (POP). Some of the existing infrastructure was about three years old and upgrading it translates into increased performance with a lower draw on energy.
The upgrades and additions also create a better foundation for the company’s DNS services, e-mail, authentication and authorization, and necessary storage systems and databases. The new PoPs mean increased speed, safety and network redundancy.
"The new equipment increases the capacity and lowers our energy footprint compared to systems that we were using just two years ago," Job said. "DNS Made Easy is currently handling 15 billion queries a day and is expecting to see a dramatic increase in these numbers. Upgrades such as these help us handle those queries in the most smart and efficient manner."
Increasing overall capacity is routinely expected from a service such as DNS Made Easy, which is why the company continually makes significant upgrades to help reduce the company’s power footprint and provide superior service.
"These behind-the-scenes energy upgrades use less electricity by utilizing new technologies that are able to perform more computing cycles with less watts of power," Job said. "Using less power both reduces our power footprint and in the long run will provide lower power usage and better ROI to our clients."
Additional spending of infrastructure to lower the energy footprint is very rare with companies in the DNS space since many companies are venture capital funded or public. DNS Made Easy claims they have been able to continually focus on their "Green Initiative" since they have never accepted outside funding and can focus on parts of the business that are important to them.
"Many competing services that are in this space are in it for the quick dollar and fast rate of return," Job said. "Spending additional resources to lower our carbon footprint is a smart decision for us because we base our business decisions on what’s best for our clients, and in this case the world that we live in."
A second benefit of the infrastructure upgrades is increased speed. While increased speed might seem irrelevant to going green, having a fast-performing DNS service is important for several reasons.
First, fast performance equates to minimized waiting time. Minimized waiting time can increase productivity and unnecessary use of power for the millions of people that rely on DNS Made Easy services every day.
"Our goal is to continually improve our network infrastructure while increasing service and speed," Job said. "This is part of our corporate initiative to constantly find ways to operate in the most effective and responsible way."
The company’s green initiative does not stop at its data facilities, infrastructure and services. DNS Made Easy offices use energy efficient motion detection lights in all offices, ensuring power is only being used when needed.
In addition, DNS Made Easy also gives all employees a “flex commuting” option, allowing them to drive to and from work at non-peak hours to reduce the amount of time spent sitting traffic, cutting down on emissions and fuel consumption.
The DNS Made Easy and Tiggee corporate offices are also located on the new Washington DC Metro (WMATA) silver line that allows employees to use the Washington DC mass transit system to get to work.
"Our company will always take into consideration the protection of the planet for generations to come," Job said. "We base our decisions on helping shape a better future for everyone."
