Dickinson Wright PLLC Expands Las Vegas Office with Addition of Eight Attorneys
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (PRWEB) January 08, 2015 -- Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce the addition of eight new attorneys joining the firm’s office in Las Vegas, Nev. The office expansion coincides with the firm’s new location at 8363 West Sunset Road, Suite 200 in Las Vegas. The move and expansion were effective as of January 1, 2015.

Joining Dickinson Wright are eight attorneys from Lionel Sawyer, including Ketan Bhirud, Elizabeth Brickfield, John Dawson, Jennifer Gaynor, Gregory Gemignani, Var Lordahl Jr., Matthew Policastro, and Kendal Weisenmiller. The addition of these attorneys allows Dickinson Wright to broaden our service mix and offer full service legal solutions to our local and national business clients. Below is a description of each of Dickinson Wright’s new attorneys:
Elizabeth Brickfield, Member – Ms. Brickfield practices tax and family law, including estate planning, trusts and estates, guardianship matters and probate. She is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Nevada, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Southern Nevada Council of Estate Planners. She is a member of the Board of Trustees for the College of Southern Nevada Foundation; a member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys; Chair Elect of the Probate & Trust Section of the State Bar of Nevada; a member of the United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council; and a Pro Bono Volunteer at the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. Ms. Brickfield has presented probate seminars for the State Bar of Nevada, the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, and private legal education associations. She received her B.A. from Manhattanville College, her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
John Dawson, Member – Mr. Dawson’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of trusts, estates, and asset protection. He has extensive practice experience in estate planning, wills, offshore trusts and revocable living trusts, probate, guardianships, business succession planning, asset protection planning, estate and gift taxation, and all related corporate law in support of entity formation, including corporations, family limited partnerships, and limited liability companies. He is the former Chair of the Probate and Trust Section of the State Bar of Nevada and he is a member of the American Bar Association and the Clark County Bar. He is also the former President and Board Member of the Nevada Chapter for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Mr. Dawson is listed in Mountain States Super Lawyers for Estate Planning and Probate Law. He received his B.S. from Weber State University; his J.D. from J. Reuben Clark School of Law, Brigham Young University; and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Jennifer Gaynor, Member – Ms. Gaynor heads up Dickinson Wright’s legislative practice in Nevada and resides full-time in Carson City during the Nevada legislative session. She has developed strong relationships and a solid reputation with Nevada’s legislators and is a trusted representative for clients in Nevada’s capitol. She has represented legislative clients across many areas of interest, including gaming, healthcare, financial institutions, media entities, trade associations, transportation companies, libraries, and utilities. In addition to representing clients before the Nevada legislature, Ms. Gaynor also regularly appears before local governments and state government agencies on issues including gaming and liquor licensing, land use issues, property tax appeals, and other business and professional licensing. She additionally utilizes her communications law background to work with television and newspaper clients on matters regarding First Amendment law, protecting media privileges, defamation and privacy claims, and public records and open meeting law. Ms. Gaynor is the Nevada State Chair of CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. She is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the Howard D. McKibben Inn of Court. Ms. Gaynor has been recognized as a Top Lawyer in the area of Gaming Law for 2014 by Desert Companion magazine, and has been named a Rising Star for Administrative Law in Mountain States Super Lawyers. She received her B.A. from Northeastern University and her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
Gregory Gemignani, Member – Mr. Gemignani’s practice focuses primarily on intellectual property law, gaming law, technology law, Internet law, online gaming law, and online promotions law. He has represented many clients ranging from the largest casino companies to start-up Internet ventures. He is a member of the International Masters of Gaming Law, the International Association of Gaming Advisors, the Technology Business Alliance of Nevada, and the Clark County Bar Association. Mr. Gemignani has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America. He received his B.A. from St. Norbert College and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
Matthew Policastro, Member – Mr. Policastro focuses his practice on estate planning, corporate law and taxation. He is a member of the State Bar of Nevada and the State Bar of California. He received his B.S. from Pepperdine University, his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, and his LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
Ketan Bhirud, Of Counsel – Mr. Bhirud’s practice focuses on high-stakes commercial litigation in federal and state court, including complex contract disputes, shareholder derivative suits, complex tort suits, and real estate litigation. He serves on the board of directors for the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board for the State Bar of Nevada. Mr. Bhirud is recognized as a "Rising Star" by Mountain States Super Lawyers, a "Best Up & Coming Attorney" by Nevada Business Magazine, and a "Top Lawyer" by Desert Companion magazine. He received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Kendal Weisenmiller, Of Counsel – Ms. Weisenmiller is a litigator practicing in the areas of civil and commercial litigation, including probate and trust litigation, guardianship law and family law, with experience in bankruptcy. In 2014, she was recognized as one of Southern Nevada’s Top Attorneys by Nevada Business magazine as a member of the Legal Elite in Bankruptcy, Probate, Guardianship and Family Law. Ms. Weisenmiller is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, the Clark County Bar Association and the Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court. In 2011, she was honored for her pro bono work as a member of the 100 Hour Club of the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. Ms. Weisenmiller received her B.A. from Brigham Young University and her J.D. from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law.
Var Lordahl, Jr., Of Counsel – Mr. Lordahl’s practice emphasis is in trusts and estates and taxation. He is on the Board of Directors and serves as Secretary for the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow (FIT). He received his B.S. from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
