Author Grandmaeggs Joins Crusade against Childhood Obesity
PUYALLUP, Wash. (PRWEB) January 16, 2015 -- Childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years according to data found in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website. Inspired to take part in the crusade against childhood obesity, author Grandmaeggs is releasing a new storybook that imparts an important message about proper nutrition. “Lunchroom Lucy” (published by Xlibris) is targeted toward young readers.
Grandmaeggs shares that her own father suffered from obesity and that he was the one who encouraged her to write.
“My father was so proud of me taking nutrition classes,” the author says, “He felt that obesity would become the number one killer in the future and he asked me to write something about it to help.”
Grandmaeggs’ first book, “Lunchroom Lucy,” tells the story of the fictional Planet Nutrite and how it helps Earth in its fight against bad health choices. The title character, Lunchroom Lucy, is a fairy from Planet Nutrite who reintroduces Earth inhabitants to the healthy eating habits and good food choices. Accompanied by fully-colored illustrations, “Lunchroom Lucy” bears the following message:
“Now children, remember, you are what you eat. So eat from the rainbow daily to stay nutritiously complete!”
