Their own quest to finding answers to life’s many questions has led authors Margaret Meeres-Alton and Joan Bates to turn to the pages of the written word. After reading, meditating and gleaning spiritual insights from the Holy Word, together they wrote an inspiring devotional book to share the treasures and blessings they found through “Our Bible Study” (published by Xlibris).
“Our Bible Study” is a condensed version of every verse, chapter and book of the Bible. The purpose was to take out the repetition so any reader could better understand what the message they were to receive meant. So often the words just ‘speak to people’ and they realize they need to share their own interpretation. Through experimenting with other studies, Margaret and Joan found that “Our Bible Study” simplified the understanding of God’s Word.
Aiding believers and lay readers to have a clearer and deeper understanding of God’s Holy Word — filled with his promises of love and faithfulness to man — Margaret and Joan help in nurturing the people of God. “We believe that people today are seeking some meaning in life – there is such unrest in the world and most people just want to have faith in the goodness of their fellow man,” they say, “God teaches us that.”

About the Authors
Margaret (Margaret Meeres – Alton) was born and raised in Red Deer, Alberta. Although her family did not regularly attend church she had a Christian, loving, fair and disciplined upbringing. Margaret’s experience of reading five versions of the Bible has aided in bringing about “Our Bible Study.” This book is a labour of love and has helped Margaret stay strong in her 22 years of battling cancer.
Joan (Joan Bates) was born in a small town in Northern Ontario but came out to Alberta, with her family, when she was only six, to live on a farm just outside the village of Thorhild. Joan was not raised in a Christian home, but her mother did believe in the intrinsic values of the faith and thereby instilling in her children a good base with which to live their lives.
