Family-Owned & Operated Jewelry Store, Rogers & Hollands Jewelers, Won't Open on Thanksgiving Day
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 23, 2015 -- The largest family-owned & operated jewelry retailer in the United States, Rogers & Hollands Jewelers (Rogers Enterprises, Inc.), is putting family first this holiday season with their decision not open any of their 79 store locations on Thanksgiving Day; an unexpected move by anyone in the jewelry industry due to the surge of holiday shopping traffic.
Challenging a national trend of companies providing earlier and earlier shopping hours on Thanksgiving Day, Rogers & Hollands is taking the position to support associates being home with families while alternatively offering special online sales for consumers eager to start shopping.
With the retail industry approaching its busiest and most demanding time of year, the management team of Rogers & Hollands believes the decision to provide Thanksgiving Day off for associates was an obvious one; especially when the holiday’s traditions echo the importance of bringing family and friends together.
“We respect the decisions of those competitors choosing to open on Thanksgiving Day and/or exceptionally early on Black Friday. They need to do what they believe is best for their businesses and we completely understand this. However, it is because of our associates that we continue to grow and they are the ones that make our business a family,” said President & CEO of Rogers Enterprises Inc.
Despite potential operational fees and sales disadvantages associated with remaining closed, the statement continues, “As the holiday approaches, we hope that you support our decision to stay closed on Thanksgiving Day and not open our stores earlier than 6:00 AM on Black Friday. It may be in our competitors’ best interest to open on Thanksgiving Day, but we believe it is in our best interest not to.”
