What The Walking Dead and Cats Have in Common on Super Bowl Sunday
Thousand Oaks, California (PRWEB) January 30, 2015 -- Nonprofit spay neuter organization Lucy Pet Foundation recruited visual effects wizard Sam Nicholson from “The Walking Dead” to direct a technologically groundbreaking ‘Bowl’ commercial featuring real rescued dogs and cats in uniforms playing the first ever Dogs Vs. Cats football game. It airs on Super Bowl Sunday – during the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl.
Touted as “the ONLY pet commercial to watch on Super Bowl Sunday,” it is available for viewing on YouTube now.
Dubbed “The Lucy Bowl,” the 30-second commercial uses state of the art CGI with real dogs and cats in a stadium filled with 80,000 pets. The point is to call attention to the 80,000 dogs and cats that are euthanized in the United States every week and educate the viewer on how to help eliminate this problem.
The commercial’s director, big time dog lover Sam Nicholson, is founder and CEO of state of the art visual effects production company Stargate Studios. The Emmy Award winner is best know for his work in “The Walking Dead,” “Pan Am,” “Star Trek I,” “24,” and “Heroes.”
One of the most technologically advanced commercials ever produced, with over 80,000 photographic images, 1,000 computers and 25,000 man-hours, “The Lucy Bowl” is also being considered for a Guinness World Record.
Joey Herrick, Lucy Pet Foundation’s Founder and President, previously co-founded and helmed Natural Balance Pet Foods for 25 years. He also produced Tillman the Skateboarding Bulldog’s “American Idol’ style television series, “Who Let The Dogs Out.”
Herrick sold Natural Balance and changed his focus to helping pets full time with a mission to end pet overpopulation with nation-wide free and low cost mobile spay neuter clinics and other programs to help make shelter pets more adoptable. Although he’s spent more than a million dollars of his own money to create it, Herrick vows will never take a salary from the Lucy Pet Foundation. It’s all about helping pets.
