Midwestern Higher Education Compact Announces Selection of HP to Provide Hardware Products and Services to Education and Governmental Entities
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) August 05, 2015 -- The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) today announced the selection of HP for hardware products and services available to colleges, universities, K‐12 districts and schools, cities, states and local governments in 41 states extending competitive pricing discounts.
HP was awarded a contract in response to two of MHEC’s competitively-sourced Request For Proposals on Computing Hardware and Related Services and Network and Services.
“The intent of all MHEC contracts is to offer a total solution that an institution can tailor to best meet their needs and requirements,” stated Timothy Smith, chief information officer for the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University. Smith, who also served as the chair of MHEC’s Computing Hardware and Related Services RFP Committee, said “All institutions benefit from the competitively bid contracts and pricing they may not otherwise have been able to obtain on their own and it gives institutions the ability to leverage the contracts as a starting point to negotiate additional terms and pricing discounts.”
MHEC technology initiatives are guided by Midwestern chief information officers, technical experts, and IT procurement professionals.
Through the agreement, member states’ higher education institutions, K-12 districts and schools, cities, states, and local governments can obtain pricing discounts and services on network, server, and storage products, as well as printing and personal computing devices.
One of four regional higher education compacts in the United States, MHEC serves approximately 1,000 public and private nonprofit institutions – more than 4 million students. The agreement with HP also extends to the same entities in the Southern Regional Education Board and the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education – 41 states in total.
