Simplifile’s Matthew Hailstone Receives MISMO® Contributor Recognition Awards
PROVO, Utah (PRWEB) January 20, 2015 -- The Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance Organization (MISMO) announced the winners of its 2015 MISMO® Contributor Recognition Awards at the annual Winter Summit in San Antonio last weekend, and presented Matthew Hailstone, a senior software developer at Simplifile, with both the MISMO Standards Champion Award and the MISMO Outstanding Contributor Award.
“Matthew tirelessly works to advance the MISMO standards and is vested in listening to the perspectives of different stakeholders, ranging from business to technical, vendor to lender or servicer, and then disseminating the feedback to various MISMO workgroups and leadership,” said MISMO Vice President and Mortgage Bankers Association Director of Industry Standards Jan Davis. “He brings outstanding technical expertise and a passion for standards to the table every day.”
According to Davis, the Standards Champion Award recognizes individuals who made the most substantial contributions towards advancing the MISMO standards during the 2014 calendar year as selected by the members of the MISMO Residential Standards Governance Committee. The Outstanding Contributor Award is presented from the MISMO staff to the person or people who stood out over the course of the past year with their organization-wide efforts.
Davis added that they have seen tremendous growth and advancement in MISMO Education; Hailstone was instrumental in the development of the MISMO XML Primer, Course 3, and serves as co-lead on efforts to develop the new Certified MISMO Standards Professional (CMSP) individual certification program.
“The mortgage finance industry is experiencing landmark changes,” Hailstone said. “Many individuals have collaborated in making the MISMO standard the recognized and respected solution to undertake those changes. It is a great honor to be recognized out of so many in my efforts to contribute to the success of the MISMO standard.”
MISMO also recently appointed Hailstone from Vice-chair to Chair of the MISMO Architecture Workgroup, chartered with providing technical expertise and guidance within the organization.
“I am honored to be appointed as the Chair of the Architecture Workgroup. I look forward to continuing the important efforts in creating and maintaining a robust MISMO standard that is helping facilitate and adapt to the changes that are occurring in the mortgage finance industry,” Hailstone said.
The MISMO Architecture Workgroup establishes the technology priorities for MISMO, under guidance from the Governance Committee. The Workgroup coordinates and integrates recommendations of the other MISMO Workgroups, MISMO subscribers, and interested parties into an XML standard for the mortgage industry as well as maintain that standard with subsequent revisions.
The Architecture Workgroup is also responsible for establishing the architectural framework on which the standards are developed including guidance on the use of other standards.
“Matthew continues to represent Simplifile at the highest level and earning this level of recognition is a testament to all the volunteer hours he has put in at MISMO above and beyond his regular duties,” said Nancy Alley, vice president of strategic planning at Simplifile.
Hailstone has been involved with MISMO since 2009, serving as co-chair of the Document Services Workgroup and Administrator for the XML Digital Signature Implementation Guide. In addition to his new role as the Chair of Architecture Workgroup, he is also the Core Data Structures Representative for e-mortgage and the Administrator of the SMART Doc® PDF Implementation Guide Development Workgroup (DWG).
