Enterprises can strike a balance between preventing fraud in real-time and avoiding invasive approaches that drive customers away.
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2015
Online fraud grows increasingly complex as savvy criminals learn to counter anti-fraud measures using technology and advanced statistical models. At Apache Big Data Europe 2015, WSO2 Technical Lead Seshika Fernando will discuss how enterprises can strike a balance between preventing fraud in real-time and avoiding invasive approaches that drive customers away. The event runs September 28-30, 2015 at the Corinthia Hotel in Budapest, Hungary.
Seshika’s presentation, “Catch Them in the Act – Fraud Detection in Real Time,” will be held 2:00 – 2:50 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, in the Arany venue. In this session, she will examine a number of technologies and tactics for implementing simple yet effective real-time fraud detection. These will include how:
- Anomalies can be detected in real time using complex event processing (CEP).
- Markov modeling provides a great approach to detecting rare activity sequences.
- Machine learning can be applied to intensify fraud detection.
- Scoring functions can be used to reduce false positives.
- Visualizations can enable analysts to further crack down on relationships in large fraud rings.
